The Problem
Every year, the fashion industry produces over 100 billion garments.
85% end up in landfills.
60% are made of toxic plastic fibers.
That plastic seeps into our soil. Our water. Our food.
And ultimately into our bodies. These aren’t just abstract climate facts.
They’re symptoms of a system built on ignorance… then denial.
As consumers, it’s easy to get lost in a fog of greenwashing. We care, but don’t know where to channel our concern.
Maybe it becomes clearer when we zoom in.
Fast fashion doesn’t just harm the planet. It harms our well-being. Our sense of self. As women, we are dictated by the fashion police. Sold discomfort in the name of style. Taught that we’re never quite good enough - just as we are.
In this TEDx Talk, the wellbeing of our planet and our personal wellbeing are truly two sides of the same coin.
