The new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products directive is a huge opportunity for sustainble brands like MOR that have a fully transparent supply chain, with a non-toxic and circular process. The requirements for digital product passes is anticipated to come into force in 2026 and 2027.

A MOR bag is created through a design philosophy rooted in Nordic minimalism, circular craftsmanship, and respect for the ocean and all it's life. Each piece is made from responsibly sourced fish-skin — a by‑product of the Nordic seafood industry — transformed through a toxin‑free tanning process inspired by traditional methods which has it's origin in the Saami and Greenland Inuit communities. We use mostly salmon skins (Salmon salar) but also Rainbow Trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Tilapia/ Clarias (Cichlid genus tilapia).

The material is hand‑selected, naturally textured, and crafted in small batches to ensure durability, lightness, and a refined tactile feel. Every bag is sewn with precision and every detail is crafted with zero waste philosphy and circular thinking.

MOR's approach combines sustainable material innovation with quiet luxury design — creating accessories that honour the ocean, elevate waste into beauty, and that age with character over time.

Fully traceable and transparent supply chain:

For tanning we use bark from willow (Salix Caprea). We source from Pilebyg in Denmark which has bark as a restproduct Raw nature designed for Noise Barriers, Fences and Facades - PileByg A/S.
We also source our black skins from Norsk fjordskinn in Trondheim , they have developed a toxin-free tanning process Forside | Norsk Fjordskinn - Bærekraftig skinn fra laks
Fish-skin is a restproduct from the fishing industry, which is usually thrown away or used for low value purposes. We have collaborations with Swedish aquaculture producers BD fisk in Luleå and Gårdsfisk in Skåne. We also source from Kvalitetsfisk in Stockholm.

All energy used is 100 % fossile free, Swedish wind and hydropower.

Care Instructions for a Fish‑Leather Bag

Fish leather is a naturally strong, lightweight, and durable material. With proper care, your MOR bag will age beautifully and maintain its unique texture over time.

General Care

Keep the bag away from prolonged direct sunlight to preserve its natural colour and texture.
Avoid overfilling the bag to maintain its shape and structure.
Store it in a breathable dust bag when not in use.

Cleaning

Wipe the surface gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
For deeper cleaning, use a mild, pH‑neutral leather cleaner suitable for delicate materials.
Never use harsh chemicals, alcohol‑based products, or household cleaners.

Water & Moisture

Fish leather is naturally more water‑resistant than traditional leather, but it should not be soaked.
If the bag gets wet, let it air‑dry at room temperature.
Avoid heat sources such as radiators or hairdryers, which can damage the fibres.

Conditioning

Apply a small amount of natural leather conditioner designed for exotic or delicate leathers.
Condition sparingly — once or twice per year is enough to keep the leather supple.
