MOR recently visited Toolspace, a collaborative prototyping and fabrication hub, to explore opportunities for testing and scaling up our fish‑skin production. Toolspace offers access to advanced equipment, technical expertise, and a creative workshop environment that aligns closely with MOR’s ambition to develop a high‑quality, circular and toxin-free material based on upcycled fish‑skin.
During the visit, we assessed the facilities and identified specific tools and processes that can support our next development phase, including precision cutting, drying, and material‑handling equipment. The Toolspace team provided valuable insights into workflow optimisation, small‑batch production, and how to adapt our tanning and finishing methods for a more efficient and scalable setup.
By collaborating with Toolspace, MOR will be able to:
-
Test new production techniques in a controlled and well‑equipped environment
-
Improve consistency and quality in our fish‑skin material
-
Experiment with prototypes for design, fashion, and interior applications
-
Prepare for a future transition from artisanal production to small‑scale industrial capacity
This partnership marks an important step in MOR’s journey toward scaling a sustainable, Nordic‑based circular material. Toolspace provides the technical foundation and collaborative setting needed to refine our methods and accelerate the development of a replicable production model.
